George Bennett
Agency Director - EEDA

George has been actively involved in getting 1st East up and running and was responsible for East of England Development Agency (EEDA)’s application to Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for permission to form the company. He was appointed as EEDA’s Founder Member Director when the URC was formed.

He is the Regional Renaissance Manager at EEDA with 18 years experience in the regeneration field working for the Rural Development Commission in London, West Midlands and the North West, joining EEDA in 1999. He manages a capital programme budget of £40m.

George is married with two children. He is a qualified microlight pilot and active member of the Technical Speleological Group (caving and pot holing to normal humans!)

Personal statement:
“EEDA has invested considerable time and resources into 1st East, we believe a URC is the right response the much needed renaissance of the urban environment in both Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. The URC will be key to maximising the benefits stemming from the Renewable Energy sector and the Outer Harbour in Great Yarmouth. Each has the potential to bring extra jobs and make a radical impact to the waterfront areas of both towns.’
