Brian Iles

Brian is a Norfolk County Councillor, a member of the Cabinet as portfolio holder for Economic Development and serves on a number of Council committees. In addition he is a District Councillor with Broadland District Council, a member of the Norfolk Police Authority and a non executive Director of Hethel Engineering Centre and Norwich International Airport.

Born in London, Brian was educated at Loughborough where he studied mechanical engineering, going on to work in the U.S.A. and France before returning to the U.K. where he held a number of senior positions in civil engineering companies, before operating his own companies employing 350 people with an annual turnover of £40 million, a large percentage of which was overseas. He then moved on to run a hotel on Dartmoor as well as advising City banks on engineering related finance. He is a past Prime Warden of the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths in the City.

Moving to Norfolk in 1998, Brian's interests include military history, reading, gardening and travelling.

Statement "I'm interested in helping to bring more jobs to the region and developing the local economy, which directly matches the aims of 1st East in the two towns."
