Opening up brownfield land opportunities to the south of Lake Lothing and creating a new connection between the south and the north of the town, the new crossing will move the A12 out of the town, allowing new development connecting the town centre to the waterfront, as well as easing the North/South traffic flow.

Technical and highways studies are underway to determine the most appropriate of the two routes identified.
